Patient Comfort

Is your anxiety and dental fear preventing you from having the healthy, beautiful smile that you deserve?

Many people suffer needlessly when visiting the dentist, feeling anxious or downright frightened during dental treatment. Some people have such a great amount of dental anxiety that they continuously put off visiting their dentist. This is never a good idea. Good oral health depends on prevention and early detection, and patients with dental anxiety or dental phobia may develop serious dental or periodontal conditions that could have been caught and treated earlier. The longer you wait to see the dentist, the greater the opportunity there is for problems to set in. Maintaining regular six-month dental checkups will help you stay on top of your oral health and prevent many problems that can cause pain and require more extensive treatment.

At Bella Smiles Cosmetic and Family Dentistry, we want you to feel comfortable during your visits. Our staff is here to help you relieve your anxiety and regain your confidence in receiving dental care from a trusted provider. Our Sugar Land, TX dental office has the tools and technology that can provide a more relaxing dental experience, and we offer several ways to assist you in receiving dental treatment while remaining calm and stress-free.

  • Enjoy our beverage bar and complimentary Wi-Fi.
  • Breathe in and allow our Aromatherapy scents to give you a sense of serenity and peace.
  • Watch your favorites on Netflix or listen to calming music while you receive treatment.
  • Stay warm and cozy with our blankets and pillows for your added comfort and support.

Nitrous Oxide

We also offer nitrous oxide sedation to calm your anxiety during dental treatment. Nitrous oxide is a gas sedative that has been safely used for many years. The effects of nitrous oxide kick in quickly, leaving you fully conscious while in a more relaxed and calm state during your treatment. One of the benefits of the nitrous oxide sedation is that it wears off just as fast as when it first takes effect. This means that you can receive this mild sedation during your treatment without needing to arrange a ride back home after your visit. Following treatment with nitrous oxide, you can resume normal activities safely.

Oral Sedation

Oral Sedation involves giving an oral sedative drug that is taken 1 hour before your dental appointment. A calming effect is induced that includes drowsiness and a hypnotic state. Patients given oral sedatives must be accompanied to and from a dental appointment.

Intravenous Sedation (IV Sedation)

IV sedation is another type of conscious sedation in which you will be able to understand and respond to requests, but you may not be able to remember much from the dental procedure. IV sedation results in a state of deep relaxation and induces a worry-free feeling. You will be in a dream-like state and time will appear to pass by quickly appearing as if you were “sleeping” during the procedure. The effects of IV sedation can last after the procedure is over and you will need to be accompanied home after the appointment.
